A Letter from Steven Sloan

Brothers,

2020 sure was a challenging year, but with vaccines beginning to be distributed, we’re all starting to feel a little more optimistic again. Like you all, I can’t wait to gather again with the ΣΑΕ brothers I knew at Penn. I look forward to when it’s safe to share the bonds of brotherhood and enjoy the lifelong friendships I’ve made face-to-face, instead of just from behind a computer screen.

Please review the update from Sam Fuchs which can be found in the newsletter HERE, current Penn Theta Eminent Archon. It is inspiring to read of the current chapter actives working to retain their brotherhood and prepare for a vibrant chapter once the Covid crisis recedes. They deserve our assistance to preserve Penn Theta for future generations.

I’ll be forever grateful for all that Pennsylvania Theta has given me, and I’m sure many of you feel the same way. I want to thank those alumni who have proven their lifetime loyalty to the Fraternity yet again this fiscal year by contributing to our 2020-21 Annual Fund. Because of their generosity, we are almost halfway to our $25,000 goal; I know we can beat it.

Our Annual Fund’s purpose is to ensure that future generations of True Gentlemen will get the chance to learn friendship, scholarship, leadership, and service at 3908 Spruce St as we did. The alumni who have given back so far this giving year are celebrated on the Honor Roll of Donors.

The fact is that we owe our own Sigma Alpha Epsilon experiences to the men who came before us. Now the challenge to uphold our brotherhood and pay it forward to the active chapter falls on our shoulders. Without us, SAE at the University of Pennsylvania does not exist. It’s true that meeting our fundraising goal each year is a challenge. I need YOU to step up to the challenge this year, Brother. Be a leader for your class. Be the first one from your grad year to add his name to the Honor Roll of Donors (or to upgrade your gift to the next giving level). Be the alumnus who calls the brothers he knew at the house to give as well. Our alumni communications, events, and support for the chapter all rely on our support.

Help us make this giving year the strongest one yet for SAE at Penn. To give to the 2020-21 Annual Fund today, use any of these methods:

In the bonds,
Steven Sloan (Penn Theta ‘77)
