A little bit of Sigma Alpha Epsilon history

Our fraternity has had a long and noteworthy past. Although many of us finished our new member education many years ago, we thought it was time to share a few more fun facts about the history of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.  

• Our fraternity is part of the 25 oldest fraternities to exist in North America
• SAE was the first fraternity to do the following: 1) create a leadership education program, 2) eliminate pledging, and 3) ban hard alcohol from all events and activities
• Over 348,000 brothers have been initiated among over 200 chapters since our founding in 1856
• SAE’s identification as “True Gentlemen” began in the year 2018
